Bill Deaton began writing professionally in 2012 following a 20+ year career, doing one thing or another, in the outdoor recreation field.
Along the way he has designed and implemented many youth summer camp programs; worked as a backpacking guide in the Rocky Mountains; served as a professional executive for the Boy Scouts of America; made snow; ran lifts; sold skis, kayaks, packs, boots, and other assorted outdoor equipment; volunteered both as a ski patroller and an adaptive skiing instructor; built trail; and developed and managed the outdoor program for an award winning destination spa.
He writes regularly for local Northeastern Pennsylvania publications: The Wayne Independent (Honesdale); The News Eagle (Hawley); The Villager (Moscow); and Connections (Honesdale).
He is an Eagle Scout, volunteering as time allows with local scout groups, and is a member of the National Ski Patrol.
In addition to writing, he is employed by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry.
Bill resides in Hawley, Pennsylvania with his wife and two sons.
